ENDOW will form an integral part of every students education in TSIS. While training them, ENDOW will also prepare them for future careers, thereby fulfilling the objective of the school-Education for Life.
Music appreciation is a universal language, one that crosses barriers of race, age, gender, and social class. Cultivating an appreciation of music among children is especially important, as making and listening to music can enhance and promote language development, coordination, creativity, and social skills, as well as cultivate a better understanding of one's history and culture. Indeed, much of a culture's ideals and heritage are embodied and preserved in its songs and music.
Yet despite the important role music can play in children's development and education, it is often afforded little or no place in the curriculum, especially in areas of the world where funds, facilities, and personnel to teach even basic subjects, such as mathematics, reading, and writing, may be lacking, or where budget cutbacks have eliminated music appreciation programs. But at TSIS there is a special programme MAP having structured curriculum for junior and sub junior groups. Non Sikh students can either opt for MAP or Devotional Singing.
The Department of English at TSIS has started a unique and comprehensive Literature Appreciation Program (LAP) for students of grade 4 to Grade 10.
Aim: Introduce great works in literature to the young readers of TSIS.
The Objectives of this program is to encourage and develop students ability to:
Enjoy the experience of reading literature;
Enrich the imagination of young readers and inspire them to become young intellectuals.
Instill noble ideals in them and to lovingly mould them into men and women of character
The LAP is highly focused on making reading interesting, engaging and fun!
The program also hopes that the study of Literature can provide students with a fresh and creative angle with which to approach their studies in particular and their lives in general.
